Peace on Earth

WOW does time fly! It is almost the end of the year. Only 22 more days until Christmas. This is a card I did for our Stamp-a-Stack event. I just love the gold embossing with the Very Vanilla and Hunter Green combination. I also used the new ornament punch. It is hard to see but I dry embossed the larger green piece.
Have a great day and remember to SMILE!

Glass Etching

This is a plate that I did for my mom. Every year at this time she makes her famous Christmas cookies. Her grandkids can't get enough of them...ok, neither can the adults.

It has been a while......

It has been a while since I have posted anything. So sorry. Here are 3 candles that I stamped on. This technique is very easy. Take a piece of tissue paper (same color as your candle) and stamp your image onto it. Next color, emboss, glitter to finish your image. Cut around the image and position it on the candle where you would like it. You then take a piece of wax paper and wrap it around the candle holding it tight. Take your heat gun and heat wear the image is until you see it clearly. (Keep the gun moving if you stay in on spot you will melt too much of the candle.) Next just peel off the wax paper slowly and viola! You can add ribbon or other embellishments if you like.

Freaky Friday

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! Today I am showing you a couple of treat holders that I made. One is a very simple sucker holder and the other is a matchbook that holds the little bags of M&M's. I love doing things for the Holidays and then giving them out. I hope everyone has a wonderful and SAFE weekend.

Thankful Thursday

This week's card is a Tri-shutter card that my friend Pam did for our shoebox swap. I love how she used the twine with the leaves. She used Autumn Meadows DSP & the Autumn Splendor stamp set. Pam has been a blessing in my life. She is always making sure I am smiling. She is a gracious host of many events and ALWAYS has a TAB soda with her! She is addicted to TAB. Thanks Pam for making me smile!

Technique Tuesday - Magical Image

Today's technique is very "magical". The image will slowly appear. The snowflake on this card was done using this technique. To do this technique - Remembering to use the embossing buddy, emboss a white snowflake or image onto glossy cardstock. Heat set & set aside. Put rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and put 2 different colored drops of reinkers onto cotton ball. Dab cotton ball onto the ENTIRE piece of cardstock. Heat with embossing gun again starting at embossed area and working your way out. The image will magically appear. Hope you like this technique!

Freaky Friday

Only 1 more week before Halloween! Has everyone got their costumes? Today's card is a gate card that I did at a meeting. The tree and owl on front were embossed in black. The stamp set used was the House of Haunts along with the Frightful Fence. A brayer was used to get the night effect behind the tree. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Thankful Thursday

Today's card is one that I received from my Upline during a swap that we did. I love the color combination. She used the Falling Leaves stamp set. I would like to dedicate this card to my husband. Today we have been married for 26 years! Thank you babe for sticking by me!

Technique Tuesday - Split Negative

Today's technique is split negative. The best thing about this technique is that when you do the image you end up with two so you can make two cards. This technique is normally done in black and white but try substituting contrasting colors of your choice. 1. Stamp image in VersaMark™ onto a black piece of cardstock, add white embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat set. 2. Repeat the process on a piece of white cardstock & emboss with black embossing powder. Note: you can substitute VersaMark with a colored craft ink pad and use clear embossing powder. 3. Determine the exact midpoint of each piece of cardstock and cut both images in half. There will be four half images at this point. 4. Adhere two opposite images to a coordinating or complimentary piece of cardstock.

Have a great day!

Freaky Friday - Tasty Sweet

This is a Halloween card that we did at my upline's house. I love this stamp set, probably because I love candy corn! The stamp set is the Tasty Sweet stamp set. Colors used were: Basic Black, Summer Sun, Only Orange, Whisper White and some Close to Cocoa on the candy corn. Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Thankful Thursday

I am blessed with such wonderful friends! I received this card from my good friend Donna in Michigan. It is the "magical marquee" card (at least that is what I believe the design is called). When it is closed it is a beautiful card, then you open it and viola! a surprise. The bird disappeared and the birdhouse appeared. I love the color scheme she used: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and Old Olive. Awesome card Donna! Thanks!

Technique Tuesday - Faux Diamond Dust

Do you like sparkles?? If so, then this technique is for you. To get a glittery shimmer to a card here is what you need to do. First, stamp and color in your image. Allow image to dry, if it was water colored. Apply VersaMark to the entire front of the image. Put the piece into a tray of Iridescent Ice embossing powder and make sure it covers the entire image. Melt the powder over the image using an embossing gun. Allow the image to cool prior to adhering to your card. Viola! A dazzling card!

October's Freaky Friday

Seeing that Halloween is just a few weeks away I figured I better post some Halloween cards and projects. So today I am posting this Halloween card that I did for our downline swap. I embossed the black hat with black & iridescent ice embossing powders. I did not have any Halloween DSP at the time so I made my own backgrounds using versa mark and the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set. Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday! Be safe!

Thankful Thursday

Seeing this month is Breast Cancer Awareness month I want to thank everyone that has helped in this fight! Anyone that has known someone or has gone thru this battle themselves, knows it is a tough battle. I truly admire everyone that has gone thru this and their strength. Today's card is a little different from the traditional one. This card is like a matchbook. This is a very simple but elegant card. I used the Friends 24-7 stamp set & stamped images on the card base with versa mark and used pretty in pink ink to stamp the flower image on the front. Of course, I had to add some dazzling diamonds to make it sparkle! The base of the card was folded up and then stapled in the middle. I then used ribbon to conceal the staple. If you would like actual dimensions please email me at debi_whisman@yahoo.com.

Technique Tuesday - Spotlighting

Today's technique is called spotlighting. This technique is used to make part of an image "pop".

1) Stamp desired image onto cardstock for card.
2) Stamp part of the image you want to spotlight onto a scrap piece of cardstock.
3) Punch out part of image (scrap image) that is to be spotlighted.
4) Color punched image.
5) Adhere punched image to slightly bigger punched cardstock.
6) Line up layered punched image over the card image and adhere.

Have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

Today's card is in honor of my friend Holly in AZ. She has been my friend for 20 years and she is absolutely awesome. She loves the leaves changing colors in the fall but doesn't get to see them in AZ, so this card will brighten her day I hope! I used some of the in colors: Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry & Soft Suede. The stamps sets are Forest Friends and Branch Out. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Technique Tuesday - Crayon Resist

I just love this technique and it is simple too! The outcome is a gorgeous image.
Stamp your image in black or another dark color (I find Staz-on works best) onto a piece of glossy white cardstock. Take a white crayon and color/mark where you would want the white to be on your stamped image. Brayer or sponge over the image covering the entire glossy piece. Next take a tissue or napkin and wipe over glossy piece. This takes off all the crayon residue and leaves a beautiful image.
For this card I also put a circle on the card before I brayed. After braying I took the circle off and behold... a moon! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by.

All rolled into one...

Technique Tuesday and Thankful Thursday I am posting together this week. This card is one that we did at our technique class a while back. The technique is bleaching. Didn't know you could stamp with bleach did you?! To do this technique just soak a piece of folded paper towel with bleach. Use as an ink pad and stamp on colored cardstock. You will gradually see the color leaving the cardstock and leave a beautiful faded image. Experiment with different colors of cardstock as the effect of the bleach varies according to the color of the cardstock. Rinse stamps on a water soaked paper towel and then condition by cleaning with Stampin’ Mist when finished. Happy Stamping!

Technique Tuesday

I thought I would show you different techniques on Tuesdays....Technique Tuesday. The first technique I want to show you is.........Faux Lantern. For this technique you stamp your image, color if desired, then run the stamped image thru the crimper. After you have crimped the image run the piece gently over the black staz-on ink pad (image side down). Then simply take a marker and in the grooves put little stitch marks. This particular one that I did reminds me of the rice paper blinds. I used the hostess Asian Artistry stamp set with Rich Razzleberry paper. This card is a gate card and so the other picture is of what the inside looks like.

Here are a couple of cards that I have made recently. The first one is using the Sweet Centers stamp set and treat cup. Isn't it just adorable? You can fill the little cup with anything (M&M's, Skittles, jelly beans, candy corn, etc.).

The second card is using the new Autumn Days stamp set and the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. I just love the colors!
Stay tuned for more postings. I promise not to slack on them.

Grad Cap Nuggets

Where you ever thinking...."what can I do with Hershey nuggets besides eating them?" Probably not, but here is an idea. This is a graduation cap that I made for a friend's daughter's graduation party. I cased the idea from SCS. I used Taken with Teal card stock, silver brads and embroidery floss for the tassels. I made 30 of them and they were a big hit!

Thankful Thursday

Well it is time once again for....Thankful Thursday....this card is one that I did in my upline Trina's technique class. It is using the cracked glass technique. The reason I picked this card is because of how Amazing things can be! I know ...how is this thankful...but bare with me you will understand....

In February my dear friend Donna in Michigan was in a horrendous car accident. On her way back to work from lunch a person in a truck ran a stop sign and hit her in the driver's side of the car. The pictures below are of her car afterwards (yes that is the drivers seat mushed). So you see, if it was not for the amazing side air bags....and God's hand in all of this....she would not be with us today! She did sustain injuries of course....but nothing life threatening. The major one is that she shattered her pelvis and was not able to even stand for fear that it would crumble. She has since been on her way to recovery and has slowly started to walk with a walker but can only put pressure on one leg. It is a long road but she is always laughing (and no not from being drugged..hehe) she just has a wonderful spirit about her. So my great big THANKS this Thursday (and always) is because she is still with us!!! Love you Donna Mae!

Stampers10

I am forming my Stampers10 club which begins in August and runs for 10 months. There are a few spots left and will be first come first serve. As a member in this club you will make and take 3 cards/projects for free each month. You will be required to spend $15 in the catalog to go toward someone’s “party”. One of the 10 months will be your month to earn the FREE hostess benefits and the other 9 members of the group will be putting their $15 into your “party”. The benefit of the Stampers10 is that you get the class for FREE that you normally pay a $10 class fee, therefore for ONLY $5 extra you will actually get $15 in product to take home and use. It is a great inexpensive way to get SU products, while getting new ideas and coming home with cards/projects. You will also get a FREE 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog and many other perks. The group will meet on the 2nd Tuesday or Thursday of every month. If you are interested in this please let me know right away and I will send you a contract! NOTE- for all my “long distance” customers – if you would like to join this club I will be more than happy to send your card/project packet to you and you can just give me your order via email.

Stampin'UP! News

Happy June Everyone! Where does the time go? It is the ABSOLUTE best time of year at StampinUP! We have the new catalog coming in less than a month and the retirement list is here! Yesterday we were able to get a sneak peek at some of the new sets and the new In Colors. The colors are great and so fun and vibrant. I cannot wait to get my hands on them and I already have some great ideas that you will see in the future!

The NEW Idea Book and Catalog
The new catalog will be coming out after June 26th. It will be packed full of the new In Colors, stamp sets, accessories and a couple more surprises that I can’t wait to share with you. The idea books are $10 each, but I will offer all of you one at a preorder price of $5 if you let me know that you want one before June 14th. All you need to do is shoot me an email or give me a call and I will put your name on the list. You can also earn a free catalog by joining my Stampers10 club or by having me into your home to host a workshop with you and your friends. When the catalogs are here I will be delivering them to you so you will have them before July 1st!

THE RETIREMENT LIST IS HERE
The new name for this list is called the “Last Chance List”. For those of you who don’t know what this is all about here is a brief description. This list is the stamp sets and accessoories that will no longer be for sale after July 1st. They are first come first serve, so once SU is out, we can no longer order them. Sometimes the stamp sets do sell out before July 1st, but they do not go as fast as the Accessories. This year SU is offering some of our retiring accessories at a discount. The only bummer about the accessories list is that it sells out super quick. We get daily updates of what is gone. All of our In Colors on page 153 of the catalog will be retiring so now is the time to get the colors that you want, if you do not have them (don’t forget the reinkers). I have not figured out yet how to add a link within a post so if you would like a copy of the Last Chance Lists please email me or call me and I will get one to you!

If you are interested in the any of the items on the Last Chance Lists, there are two ways to order. 1. If you really want something on the list and do not want to miss out you can go to my website at
http://debiwhisman.stampinup.net and go to SHOP NOW and place your order there and it will be shipped to your home. 2. If you want to order through me you can. I will be placing orders every other day. I will combine your order with other customers so that you can save on the shipping. My next order I will be placing will be on Wednesday night at 9pm. You can email me anything you would like. I will confirm by email if I was able to get everything for you and I will give you an invoice.

Thankful Thursday!

I am going to try every Thursday to do a Thank you card and to thank someone in my life. This week I have a simple but cute thank you card that I did. I used the Tea Party designer series paper and the Fun & Fast Notes stamp set.
You can never have enough thank you cards, don't you think? Is there someone you should be sending a thank you too? My BIG THANK YOU this week goes to my friend Zebbie (my twin). She has always been there for me and I wish her the best. Love you Zeb!
Make sure to check out my Stampin' UP! website for my up coming classes or to place an order (or you can contact me and I will give you all the information)!
One more thank you.....Thank you to everyone for stopping by!
